Synopsis: Sophie had run away from her family in order to protect them. Fate brought her to the Lycan Royal Pack, where she found her mate. She learns valuable lessons about love, friendship, and betrayal while attempting to conceal her identity and win her mate's cold heart.
Writer's note: This is the first story I've written in English. It was going to be part of a novel fantasy series, but I've decided against it. I've written the main story for the first book, therefore I'll post it for free on my website. It's a great story that kept me hooked for a long time. One day, I might write and publish the rest of the book series.

Heading home, my mate occupied all my thoughts. I reminded him of another woman, one that he despised. One that he called a bitch. He called me lowly and trouble. My heart hurt. He rejected me, he kept our bond a secret, he was dissatisfied with me. As soon as my home’s door closed, hot tears started dropping from my eyes. For what seemed like hours I cried for his rejection. Eventually, I had no more tears to cry and calmed down a bit.

A mother with her two young children entered the café and approached Alex quickly. She was hurt. Her children were crying and she was whispering the situation to him. His face changed to a really serious one, an obvious contradiction to Alex’s usual playful self. More customers entered the café looking worried, some of them yelling for help. I couldn’t see what was going on. My heart was in pain for those who were hurt. I wanted to go out and help but couldn’t. What if someone realised I am supernatural? What if I changed at the sight of horror and blood? Better stay inside and help the wounded, is what I thought. There were children and women hurting, so I brought the first-aid kit and tended to their injuries. Goddess and Goddesses! It took so long to help everyone. Before I was done, Alex returned. Honestly, I ran to him and hugged him. All day, I was hoping for a hug. What was happening was unbelievable. Who would dare attack the royal pack? Why would they hurt the innocent? Alex’s question surprised me.

I wasn’t one to back away from a bet or avoid punishment when lost. My voice became significantly lower when I ushered my next words – a stolen whisper. “I mean, please just say yes. I’m not really interested. I lost a bet. We don’t even have to go out. It’s just for my friends to hear”. I waited for a couple of seconds but no answer was given to me, so I tried again. “Please boys. Just a word, that’s all I’m asking. Just one of you to say yes! I can’t lose face in front of my friends”. My voice could barely be heard.

The world around me slowed down, while my breath increased. Cold sweat was dripping from my forehead and my heart was hammering in my chest. I was slowly panicking at the thought of being close to them. “Come on! Don’t make me do this!” I begged for a hundredth time. “This is not funny, you guys”. The complaints I made to my new colleagues had no effect.
